IF HAVE NEVER DRIVEN THROUGH EAST HASTINGS, YOU HAVE NO CONCEPT OF WHAT HAS HAPPENED HERE.

Without a shadow of a doubt, that cop (or cops, if it was two) were ABSOLUTELY, 100%, LOOKING OUT THEIR WINDOWS AT THE THOUSANDS OF HOMELESS PEOPLE. Not noticing a man crouched over in the center of a street, wearing all black, is a clear cut accident. A tragedy, but an accident.

Extraordinarily bad driving and unsafe operation of a motor vehicle, but if you tell yourself this was anything but an accident, you are delusional.

Queue mass protests and calls to de-vehicle police in 3, 2, 1...

The cop was still going over the speed limit and not paying attention to the road. Accident or not the cop is still an incompetent idiot

The point is, stupid or not stupid, this probably wasnt intentional

Well, I mean, yes. This is a situation where at least two idiots were involved.

Do you know how fast he was going? Can you tell that, or are you just assuming?

And you know that he wasn’t paying attention to the road? How? Do you know what ‘scan diving’ is? When driving a car no one keeps their eyes on the road 100% of the time. And shouldn’t. There are other things to keep track of. Gauges of the car, mirrors, signs, traffic lights…. Anyone of those things can alter your attention for a brief time and a brief time is all it takes in a situation like this. The pedestrian is wearing black at night, and is stationary (the human eye picks up movement much before recognizing a stationary object).

The point is, if you weren’t there and weren’t in the car, you can’t make blanket statements about the event.

I can tell he wasn't paying attention to the road because he hit a guy that wasnt moving in the middle of the road. Get the boot out of your mouth and realize that the cop hit a stationary object because he is a bad driver

You can tell how fast they were going because the video is time-stamped and we know how long a police cruiser is.

They were going much faster than 30 kph. This, of course, should be evident from the force of the collision as well.

Its quite hard to tell from the video how fast he was going.
