Snake? SNAKE!? SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE

152

u/SxAnthony23 Oct 02 '22

The reference didn't land on dead ears...

79

u/DimKara_ Oct 02 '22

It was literally the first thing that popped on my mind even before the third and longest "IMPAACT" started, I was not disappointed

24

u/SxAnthony23 Oct 03 '22

It cut deep, shame how a long storied franchise ended.

19

u/DimKara_ Oct 03 '22

Agreed, it was a good run though, still one of the best franchises in gaming

0

u/No-Appointment-4955 Oct 03 '22

Kind strangers talking to each other, that was it

13

u/El-Enryu Oct 02 '22

Can I have the reference kind sir?

55

u/DimKara_ Oct 02 '22

It's a recurring theme of the Metal Gear Solid series for when the protagonist dies, you can see it here

53

u/Flat_Zebra5959 Oct 02 '22

Any Metal Gear Solid game, particularly 2

22

u/AstreiaTales Oct 03 '22

...why would you say particularly the one game where the protagonist for most of the game doesn't have the codename Snake?

5

u/PonchoTron Oct 03 '22

Hahahahah I didn't even think of that til you said. 2 is the only one I haven't finished.

1

u/blanketswithsmallpox Oct 04 '22

Is this not from Metal Gear Solid 2? Otacon? Deepthroat? Meryl mashing X. Ohhhh, I see you play Suikoden?

5

u/rotatingwhale Oct 03 '22

I prefer raiden to be honest lol

2

u/JustAnIdiotPlzIgnore Oct 03 '22

Same, MGS2 is the best, ill die on that hill lol even though highly unpopular opinion when mgs4 exists.

475

u/dotted29 Oct 02 '22

Nice follow up cast by Dagda. Hype was maintained

453

u/Niirai Oct 02 '22

Dagda is so fucking underrated. Casts a gazillion games in LPL, casually strolls into LEC making it sound like he's always been there. Now easily slots in with every PBP and adapts to their style. If this man isn't casting knockouts...

135

u/sorendiz uzi ming Oct 03 '22

He's literally my favorite. Super knowledgeable and prepared but also has an incredible sense of humor and always fits extremely well with any PBP co-caster. LPL casts with Dagda and Oisin or Munchables are so good cause it's hype for the game but also funny af during downtime. The tricast with Lyric joining too was GOATed.

Sorry a lot I know but I really am a massive fan of him lmao

16

u/mitsubishimacch Oct 03 '22

yo i don't watch lpl but everytime I hear him he's soo good, will check out more casts

16

u/sorendiz uzi ming Oct 03 '22

it's definitely worth your time! You should be on the lookout for any time he casts ORANGEY games

(RNG. his irish accent makes him literally incapable of pronouncing the letter R without making it OR)

9

u/saruthesage Ssumdaddy simpDoinb's douyu girlfiend Oct 03 '22

Hahaha I was so happy to see him casting ORANGEY on the international stage for everyone

2

u/sorendiz uzi ming Oct 03 '22

my favorite thing is that every time he does, Emily Rand will just start tweeting 'ORANGEY' or a picture of an orange E with no other context

30

u/DGORyan Oct 03 '22

All the LPL casters seem like best friends, all while being incredibly talented. Like you said, it's hype during game time but still fun when it should otherwise be slow. Their dynamic is great and I love seeing Dagda bring it here as well.

18

u/sorendiz uzi ming Oct 03 '22

Oh they actually are good friends, at least several of them - I always love it when Dagda and Oisin just decide that it's Ireland Time during a cast, and they pretty regularly tweet pics from traveling to meet up with one another for drinks

5

u/neonadz Oct 03 '22

There was a clip of them awhile back starting chants in the LEC. They’ve been friends for a long time, Oisin and Dagda

23

u/mindlicious Oct 03 '22

Same here. Not a big LPL fan but i watch games when Dagda casts. He is so well rounded as a caster.

6

u/sorendiz uzi ming Oct 03 '22

You might enjoy watching some of the podcasts and stuff he's on - frequently cohosts The Last Hit with Lyric or Munch, and Bevvies with the Boys

22

u/lifeinpaddyspub Oct 03 '22

I love people like Dagda who just seem so passionate about the game. I think most if not all of the casters are, but I just feel excited whenever Dagda feels excited. That's probably a sign he's doing a pretty damn good job.

14

u/sorendiz uzi ming Oct 03 '22

It helps that he literally just exudes 'I am a cheerful and friendly guy' vibes, you can't help but get excited whenever he does, just like you said. Absolutely cracked caster and analyst, really happy that more and more people are appreciative of him these days with his appearances in the LEC and here internationally

5

u/FireVanGorder WE TAKE THOSE Oct 03 '22

One of the best in the business

3

u/Zoesan Oct 03 '22

At this point we are truly spoiled with great caster in every region.

2

u/DuckAbuse Oct 03 '22

Dagda is amazing!

1

u/RimeSkeem Oct 03 '22

I can only think of opening the menu in SMT4A when I see that name.

8

u/Grass-Knoll Oct 02 '22

Understandable. Flowers needed a bit to recover.

953

u/SpCommander Oct 02 '22

You could hear his soul leaving his body. But props to Captain for also immediately praising DFM for capitalizing on it. The man is a consummate professional.

144

u/Anuj_Purohit Oct 02 '22

Man this was such a headscratch from Impact though, carried the previous teamfight almost 1v3 and then just proceeded to sprint it down mid..

22

u/OBLIVIATER Oct 03 '22

Probably over confident from the last fight

6

u/Carrionnoirrac Oct 03 '22

His team is split, he wants to get a flank if a teamfights breaks out over dragon which would pretty much gaurentee the teamfight win, but EG's vision is really lacking at the moment, this let's DFM wrap back around on impact first with less that 10 seconds on dragon spawn while impact is mostly likely assuming they are still pathing to the dragon pit.

If he doesnt try to walk up, they take drake for free, he gets to a teamfight late if one should break out, but walking up is dangerous without vision obviously...

Not to defend the play, but theres at least a little bit more going on than, "impact running it down mid", hes kinda damned if he does damned if he doesnt. Really the mid/jungle/support on eg really dropped the ball giving vision control before the dragon spawn, that's what allowed this to happen.

110

u/IHadThatUsername Oct 02 '22

The man is a consummate professional.

For sure. He managed to sound genuinely hyped at many of DFM's plays even though they really had to be hurting him. Hats off to him, it's not easy to walk the line between supporting your region and sounding salty.

57

u/pixel8knuckle Oct 03 '22

Phreak has done this well too and that mana been hurting since season 1z

24

u/twisty77 Oct 03 '22

YOU HAVE NO MANA

3

u/Yubisaki_Milk_Tea Oct 04 '22

Phreak calling out Biofrost for stealing 800g from Bjergsen/finding ways to sabotage TSM is one of the funniest casting moments ever.

288

u/Conankun66 Oct 02 '22

best PBP in the world

35

u/Troviel Oct 02 '22 edited Oct 02 '22

Agreed, I want to see Caedrel and Captain flowers together for the GOAT PBP AND analysis.

106

u/dexy133 Oct 02 '22

I agree. Him and Medic. I might be a bit biased being from EU but these two guys seem to have the most memorable lines in the last 4-5 years. Still wake up in sweat from a nightmare hearing Medic's 'Murder in the botlane' against my MSF. lol

47

u/InPurpleIDescended Oct 03 '22

Medic is awesome but he does flub words just enough to be noticeable, trip up over himself every so often

Like that's not a big deal in normal context, Medic is great, but if we're talking about best in the world, Flowers to me is unmatched

19

u/Zoesan Oct 03 '22

FORM IS TEMPORARY

FAKER

IS

FOREVER

7

u/AaronDeath Oct 03 '22

Yeah medic is also annoyingly bias towards teams he likes.

12

u/plantman01 Oct 03 '22

Idk why youre being downvoted, he proved his bias with the " you dont have the right to emote" comments

2

u/MoriartyParadise Esport Historian Oct 04 '22

And he was conscendingly atrocious every time he had to cast EU Masters

"Why would I take the time to learn about players that don't matter" yeah okay right nice

18

u/Conankun66 Oct 02 '22

those two are my favorites as well

20

u/TheRealDorkSpork Oct 03 '22

I dont think medic is on the same level as flowers

22

u/sorendiz uzi ming Oct 02 '22

When Hysterics finally gets a chance to cast at worlds you guys are gonna have a new fave to add to the list. That guy is cracked af

28

u/TheLoneliestHunk Oct 03 '22

That must be the reason he's not allowed at Worlds, He's too powerful

9

u/sorendiz uzi ming Oct 03 '22

They ain't ready for my boy Jake just yet

17

u/D_Neon Riot fucked the OPL Oct 03 '22

Dude manages to say some of the stupidest analogies and dumbest segues I've ever heard and make me not care cos he's so good to listen to regardless. I remember listening to him doing OCE Rocket League and knowing he was gonna hit it big.

9

u/Rxlic Creme Enjoyer Oct 03 '22

LPL casters and Flowers, the GOATS

3

u/sorendiz uzi ming Oct 03 '22

WWWWWW

4

u/Cromatose Oct 03 '22

God damn right. I've such a Hysterics stan forever. Let this man in. He's so fucking good.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '22

idk why he isn't here he's amazing

3

u/sorendiz uzi ming Oct 03 '22

lpl watchers have been asking this question for the past 2 years :(

especially last year he was super bummed out about not getting invited, we were all expecting that it would finally be his chance to cast at worlds and then nothing

same disappointment with munch not getting an invite this year

2

u/Root-of-Evil Hooded Virgin Nerdy Girl Oct 02 '22

That's weird, I have great memories associated with that call

2

u/Dusii Oct 02 '22

Drakos good too

26

u/XingXManGuy Oct 03 '22

Ah, yes, the man from one of the worst, most biased casts in history

23

u/DanHamhoose ugly god Oct 03 '22

bro was basically crying on stage 😭😭

7

u/Zoesan Oct 03 '22

One bad cast doth not a bad caster make

2

u/-Ophidian- Oct 03 '22

Which cast was that?

1

u/-Markedly Oct 04 '22

DWG vs. G2 2020. The one with the record-breaking game 4.

0

u/ArmMeForSleep709 TSM Who? Oct 03 '22

I'm partial to some of the CSGO guys, but he definitely elite in LoL community.

43

u/AzureAhai Oct 02 '22

Yea, I feel bad for CaptainFlowers here. If you watch his stream, you can tell how much he wants NA to just be good or at least not under perform interationally.

3

u/Pleasestoplyiiing Oct 03 '22

NA doesn't underperform. They've arguably over performed for a couple years.

1

u/blanketswithsmallpox Oct 04 '22

CLG flair confirmed.

8

u/dtkiu27 Oct 02 '22

Hype, unbiased. He's the goat.

470

u/CaptainFlowers22 Oct 03 '22

NA at Worlds baby. Heartbreak is just part of the experience cap22Chad

58

u/2th Oct 03 '22

Cap, we love you and are grateful for every game you cast.

13

u/faithfulswine Oct 03 '22

It really is hard to be an NA fan at worlds. It’s just such a letdown every year.

4

u/adrieldbz Oct 03 '22

as a brazilian fan: "first time?"

10

u/davethebear612 Oct 03 '22

Wouldn’t be NA without shooting ourselves in the foot. You’re a treasure for us viewers, Cap. You bring something to every single game you cast. Thanks for your hard work and passion.

Random question but why 22?

376

u/N1ghtStrike dumb na fan Oct 02 '22

Flowers spoke for all of NA this day. Why Impact why?

136

The growl of flowers reminds me of the Korean casters when G2 aced T1 at msi

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpTqgAEGc_E I rewatch this video once in a while because its so funny GG

11

u/Syncron72 Oct 03 '22

7

Impact with the NA flank

3

There needs to be a ranking compilation of all the caster curses that have happened already so far this world.

3

u/IcePokeTwoSoon Long time commenter, 1st time reader Oct 03 '22

7

u/tinfoilhatsron Oct 02 '22

3

4

Fucking Flowers is a (inter)national treasure.

Fucking goat.

5

u/BoyWithPower Oct 02 '22

man i love flowers

4

u/aglimmerof invest in NTR stocks Oct 03 '22

I don't see anything out of the ordinary for an Aatrox player expecting their broken ass champ to 1v4.

3

u/Realhuman123gu Oct 03 '22

The best caster in LoL by miles. Seriously so entertaining and energetic all the time.

-14

u/LaughingAtSpergs Oct 02 '22

This is Impact on carries on a good day btw.

34

u/SGKurisu Oct 02 '22

not even two minutes earlier he just hard carried a 2v5, and his Gangplank is one of the best GPs in the west.

this moment is one of the biggest fumbles of his career, but that is still saying a lot since he's played about a decade and rarely has moments as bad as this

-1

u/LaughingAtSpergs Oct 02 '22

The top lane pool in the west is actually embarrassing atm, there are legitimately zero good top laners outside of maybe Fudge and even he is easy clapped by Rascal. "One of the best GPs in the west" really isn't saying anything. He went to MSI with GP/Gwen meta and consistently lost both sides of the match up against the good top laners.

As far as the 2v5, that's gotta be a cope given it was 3v5 and 2 of DFM's players abandoned their team to go and chase down a 2% LB because they're greedy.

0

u/AsgUnlimited D2 Peaker Oct 03 '22

This is just sadly the truth, Summit for example was middle of the pack KR (5th or 6th best) and middle of the pack China (11th place team but to be fair, probably top 6-8 as a toplaner) and he legit looked like he was NA's Judgement day.

The pool for toplane is nuts, the east's minnows are the west's great whites.

2

u/thatthingpeopledo Oct 03 '22

Just kick NA when when we’re down more man.

1

u/imtheproof ImTheProof [NA] Oct 03 '22

They blew Sej + MF ult, their teamfight is over. Get the hell out and find something to do one the other parts of the map.

-16

u/Liupardu Oct 02 '22

Why are people hyping this up as Impact losing his mind. Rewatch the clip the moment that MF and Seju back off and Impact stays he's fucked. He tried to go forward because he knew that DFM was coming up from jungle. He thought that was his only way out. It wasn't because DFM was also coming up from river. But Impact was fucked already.

Yes, Impact made a terrible play and should have followed MF. Impact edging into Jungle for even a second was very poor. But the fact of the matter is that "what are you doing Impact" shouldn't be associated with him walking forward after he knows he's caught. It should be associated with what happened before. Forward was his only maybe way out of that.

17

u/shadowbannednumber 100T Oct 02 '22

Yes, Impact made a terrible play and should have followed MF.

That's it, that's the (mis)play. Most people think that's the issue, rather than whatever else you and your compatriot are blabbering about.

It's the biggest reach I have seen in a long time.

Probably the worst since Jack tried to call people racist.

-3

u/Liupardu Oct 02 '22

Yup and now the clueless are trying to downvote this comment because they can't be bothered to rewatch the play.

-30

u/ImXtraSalty Oct 02 '22

Professional paycheck stealer. Disgusting player

-14

u/libo720 Oct 02 '22

TBH Impact's team kind of let him down there. Yes he got caught out but right then and there his team had the opportunity and was in a position to hard engage with Sejuani ulti potential catching 4-5.

Yea it is a big risk but sometimes you just got to be decisive.

20

u/Unfair-Hand-6855 Oct 02 '22

his team is all the way in blue buff, no way they can get there in time.

6

u/Miraai Oct 02 '22

Seju ult was already down

2

u/aroach1995 Oct 03 '22

Sej kept blowing ulti onto nothing.

1

u/Rxlic Creme Enjoyer Oct 03 '22

That wasn't even the biggest issue, inspired throwing hail mary ults mere seconds before 3 different drakes however.....

1

u/cardscook77 Oct 03 '22

Sad oisin wasn't able to make it, my favourite caster by far. The hype he creates is unmatched😭😭😭

1

u/DevotionToU Oct 03 '22

Flowers is the best caster in the world.

-4

u/Misery-and-Company Oct 03 '22

Impact is so overrated nowadays. Dude is just collecting paychecks

1

u/AssPork Oct 03 '22

How lma0. Actually he isn't overrated nowadays. The level of competition has just increased substantially.
