It took ADD 5 games to find an Aatrox counter.

if you can't beat them join them

30

u/jetlagging1 Oct 02 '22

Gotta show something to get his next gig.

What a fall from grace for somebody who once made all pros in LPL.

19

u/Check__em Oct 02 '22

His time as All-Pro in LPL was really surprising coming from his days on MVP in LCK where he didn't look good, him being on an LLA team is just reverting to his usual.

4

u/Storiaron Oct 03 '22

Was add the guy that played sion when no one else did, or do i misremember that part?

422

u/yellister Oct 02 '22

Turkey has looked terrible this tournament. They are a shell of what they used to be seriously. What a disappointment.

56

u/TomShoe02 5fire/Yusui Enjoyer Oct 02 '22

Turkey as a region just ran out of money.

Sponsors left, good players left, and now it's just a shell of itself. Maybe they can import some 4th rate Koreans, but it's difficult otherwise. I remember when Turkey used to be the EU LCS training grounds at its peak.

31

u/Automatic-Win1398 Oct 03 '22

The ERLs also sort of kill the Turkish league. Before you would have EU prospects playing in Turkey instead of academy. Now everyone just goes to ERLs.

10

u/Indercarnive Oct 03 '22

This. Turkey has been on the decline just as a country. Their inflation rate for this year is literally getting close to 100%. The average inflation rate from 1960 to present is 32% per year.

26

u/el_michi33 Oct 02 '22

I mean LLA IS the region importing 4th rate Koreans themselves and look where it has led them: barely beating the worst team in the group :/

15

u/Glorx Oct 03 '22

Be that as it may, Turkish lira is competing in value against individual sheets of toilet paper. Noone wants to work for toilet paper.

131

u/parnellyxlol Oct 02 '22

Honestly I think these other wildcard teams just got better, whereas Turkey didn’t

133

u/the_propaganda_panda twitter.com/vcs_english Oct 03 '22

I think Turkey actually got worse significantly because they don't have money for star imports like Frozen or Snowflower anymore, and young EU talents nowadays just start their career in regional leagues, so TCL doesn't have short-time access to raw gems like Caps, Broken Blade or Xerxe either.

Combine that with the exodus of their best players (Armut, Closer, Luger etc.), and the talent pool in the league has been drained significantly. The player base is not large enough to rebound from this.

6

u/ElectricalInsect7581 Oct 03 '22

it's crazy that snowflower is considered a star import considering he was paycheck stealer level in lck

188

u/lolKhamul April Fools Day 2018 Oct 02 '22

TR as a region will always be somewhat capped. Any standout player will sooner or later transfer into the LEC or even LCS so any development is continuously destroyed.

That said, 0-5 is still rough for TR as a region who emerged as one of the better ones over the last years. Poor players are gonna experience a lot of toxicity.

30

u/BlakenedHeart Oct 02 '22

I mean Xerxe played in Turkey b4 Eu/NA

23

u/Conankun66 Oct 03 '22

the time when EU players like xerxe or caps played in turkey is over because the ERLs and EU Masters has improved so much since then. Using turkey as a development region is just completely supplanted now

112

u/lolKhamul April Fools Day 2018 Oct 03 '22

Like i said. Be it Closer, Armut, Xerxe, Caps or whoever. As soon as someone looks actually good on a major region level, they get poached.

46

u/BlakenedHeart Oct 03 '22

Ah true, BB and Abbadagge came from there too. Didnt know Caps played in TR

43

u/Excellent_Vacation_1 Oct 03 '22

Kaori, Clozer and Humanoid too. Nisqy is also a Turkish citizen btw having dual citizenship eventhough he never played in Turkey

26

u/arandomguy19 Oct 03 '22

Nisqy played in Turkish Promotion League for Team Orora for a few weeks in 2016

26

u/Rularuu Oct 03 '22

He did but it is kinda weird to say Caps was poached from TR when he was likely only playing there because he didn't have an LEC spot

38

u/Gengar_Balanced THE KING IS BACK #EUphoria Oct 03 '22

IIRC, Caps and Xerxe played in TR instead of EU because they literally couldn't due to their age.

3

u/Nome_de_utilizador Oct 03 '22

Caps played 1 year in turkey to gain experience because of the age restrictions in the LEC. Back then EU masters and european academy teams weren't a thing so he just sign a 1 year contract and returned as soon as he elligeble to compete.

62

u/MegaBaumTV Oct 03 '22

Like i said. Be it Closer, Armut, Xerxe, Caps or whoever. As soon as someone looks actually good on a major region level, they get poached.

Xerxe and Caps only played in TR because they couldnt play EU LCS at the time.

11

u/ChefGamma Yes I'm dead on the inside Oct 03 '22

That's true. Both were 16 and the age limit in LCS was 17, but TCL's was 16. Then both couldn't play in Worlds qualifiers and were replaced on Dark Passage.

1

u/Hypocrites_begone Oct 03 '22

Maybe someone will poach serin next

3

u/SanSilver Oct 03 '22 edited Oct 03 '22

Xerxe

There once were a lot of EU talents in Turkey. Players that were to bad for the EU LCS but to good enough for the TCL

Edit: But in the last years the amount of none Turkish players has gone done by a lot.

8

u/Seneido Oct 03 '22

is there a reason to play in TR nowadays? IF you are too young you can probably play in ERL or wait a year, if you are not good enough anymore for LEC you usually go to LCS or drop to ERL as well. Also no clue about salary but i doubt its worth it over doing a usual job.

12

u/SanSilver Oct 03 '22

Not anymore, but 2015-2018 they paid better then ERLs and were a good place to prove yourself to be picked up by an EU LCS team.

Now ERLs are to good and you can prove yourself far better with having a good showing at EU Masters or on a Academy team.

2

u/MrNugat Oct 03 '22

Not sure about Xerxe case, but also Turkey had different rules regarding age of players - Caps went to Turkey because he was to young to play in EU LCS, but in Turkey he was already eligible.

24

u/xgenoriginal Oct 03 '22

Turkey is the Oce of Europe

11

u/Captain_Omage Oct 03 '22

At least they count as an import unlike Oce

-7

u/KuttayKaBaccha Oct 02 '22

Turkey is just budget NA in that they always sit around and do nothing but worse than NA who does it worse than 1950s Korea.

They would manage to get a few wins vs the worse teams this way but TR has never punched up nor been expected to and have now stagnated on that while even Brazil is going ham and have found some new life.

22

u/cancerBronzeV Oct 03 '22

TR has never punched up

That's not true, they eliminated MAD in 2020. Eliminating an LEC team is definitely punching up.

-10

u/KuttayKaBaccha Oct 03 '22

That was punching down at that point

1

u/Akupoy Oct 03 '22

LEC has one turkish import total.

1

u/cmeragon Oct 03 '22

Best of our players aren't even Turkish citizens lmao. Same goes for football too

23

u/LumiRhino Oct 02 '22

It's funny because ever since Wildcats have won TR the past 4 times TR has just looked awful internationally.

even after that in 2021 worlds GS didnt look half bad. They were actually somewhat decent, but wildcats on the other hand... 2-16 in 2 msi and 1 worlds. No words man. just pain

17

u/jesteratp Oct 02 '22

Feels like most of Turkey's good players left the region tho

16

u/ozmega Oct 02 '22

to me it should be an incentive instead, not only you play so you can get to the TCL, but if you do well you can jump to the LEC.

this kind of motivation is way harder in latam/brazil.

1

u/-LostInCloud- Nongshim Yumm Oct 03 '22

Tbh, there's only 3 exports I can think of:

  • Closer
  • Armut
  • Luger

While maybe their top team would be decentish with those players, it's far from solving their issues.

There seems to be a lack of talent.

1

u/somestupidloser Oct 03 '22

Kaori who is subbing for Danny on EG.

1

u/-LostInCloud- Nongshim Yumm Oct 03 '22

Ah true

13

u/xr2hb2eud3 WBG when Oct 02 '22

They're the next OPL

11

u/4716202 Pyosik is pretty good imo Oct 02 '22

Turkey and Aus are failing because any players promising enough will be scooped up by LEC/LCS first chance they get. Same thing that happened to the LMS and the LPL and probably will happen to Vietnam more too in the future. Sad reality of the system.

23

u/Sofaboy90 quite suboptimal Oct 02 '22

yeah seriously, this has to be turkeys worst worlds/wildcard tournament ever.

the south american region has traditionally been seriously weak, weve seen isg so many times over the years and theyve never achieved anything meaningful. you would think a team from the tcl would easily beat isg.

3

u/Guanajuato_Reich Oct 03 '22

Isurus used to be Latin America North (formerly dominated by Lyon Gaming). They sucked, but they weren't on the level of Latin America South (usually Kaos Latin Gamers), who were by far the worst teams in every tournament they took part in.

13

u/bigfanofeden Oct 02 '22

that's what happens when you create a team that is not by professionals but by friends. literally everyone is best friends with Holyphoenix, why don't u think Farfetch is still in the team.

28

u/Billy8000 Oct 02 '22

When you make a team with all your friends you win your home league I guess. It’s a league issue for turkey not just a team being friends

58

u/freezy127 Oct 02 '22

literally everyone is best friends with Holyphoenix

well Xiaohu isn't

27

u/Teut0burg Oct 03 '22

4

u/cadaada rip original flair Oct 02 '22

all other turkish teams were with friends too...?

3

u/KATsordogs Oct 03 '22

I mean sure but they are still beating others in the region so i’m not sure the blame is solely on them

3

u/CoachGiveAdvice Oct 03 '22

Why should you play in TCL ? For a small chance to get bodied in playin ?

It’s way better to get into either a good ERL (LFL LVP even NLC) or if you’re lucky directly into the LEC.

TCL is a worse version of an ERL with a “better” reward for the top 1 team

1

u/Effet_Pygmalion Oct 03 '22

Inversely I'm proud of LATAM for this win

1

u/NightJead Oct 03 '22

tcl has some serious economical problems. there is no enough budget to improve our league

110

u/gaveuptheghost Oct 02 '22

Getting a W in front of your home crowd, good shit Isurus

3

u/ChungoBungus Oct 03 '22

I would’ve loved to see Isurus do better but there was some good moments, they did alright. Game 1 Grell’s Graves was pretty saucy imo

104

u/Thisrainhoe Oct 02 '22

What a fucking crowd tho, mvp of the playins so far.

48

u/icatsouki Oct 03 '22

imagine if there was an actual venue and not whatever this was

11

u/TwireonEnix Oct 03 '22

Man i was really frustrated when I heard that this event would be played in a cinema. I couldn’t get a ticket for dear life for any one single day and I’ve seen an old lady with an isurus jersey being among the crowd every single day of the event. It really sucked not being able to go

59

u/ToMs3274 Oct 02 '22

can someone explain the YOU PRO? meme that tw chat spams for Serin?

144

u/saruthesage Ssumdaddy simpDoinb's douyu girlfiend Oct 02 '22

Not for Serin, for their botlane. IW botlane got matched with Xiaohu in soloqueue and they flamed eachother because IW botlane inted, with IW botlane spam pinging Xiaohu, and Xiaohu asking in disbelief “You pro?”

Thus whenever IW shits the bed they are memed with “you pro?”

63

u/K4ntum Oct 03 '22

That's a villain origin story right there lol

39

u/CizzlingT High IQ champs only Oct 03 '22

Doesn’t HolyPheonix also have a reputation for being toxic on EUW?

Cuz I feel like this would make the “you pro?” statement even funnier.

20

u/saruthesage Ssumdaddy simpDoinb's douyu girlfiend Oct 03 '22

Yea :)

22

u/KATsordogs Oct 02 '22

They were spamming for Holy probably. Xiaohu(i think) said that to Holy in a game when they were on the same team on NA SoloQ and Holy replied with shut up.

167

u/mugiboya Oct 02 '22

someone give Flowers some honey lemon tea and water lol

28

u/puso82 Oct 03 '22

Seriously, no doubt casting as hard as he does takes a fair share of toll on you.

126

u/Conankun66 Oct 02 '22

What an absolute fiesta of a game

Also i did not think TURKEY was gonna be one of the regions to go 0-5. Like OCE i can understand but Turkey usually does better

58

u/Styxxo Oct 02 '22

Tbh with that play-in draw it was pretty obvious they were going 1-4 or 0-5. And if they lose to Isurus, I don't even think they can beat the wildcards in group A aside from Chiefs ?

16

u/BlakenedHeart Oct 02 '22

One thing i dont understand why Turkey is a country region, and not merged with EuNe

57

u/Joaoseinha Oct 03 '22

Because EUNE isn't a region, it's part of the LEC.

As for Turkey being a server, fairly big playerbase and too far from the EU servers, since for whatever reason EUW and EUNE are hosted very close to one another.

12

u/Freakkopath Oct 03 '22

It wouldn't surprise me if Turkey gets incorporated into the ERL system in the future. Maybe LCL aswell.

4

u/BlakenedHeart Oct 03 '22

No, no dont get me wrong. I dont understand why the made a special server for Turkey, ping zhould be fine for eune and for example there is no African server which is odd.

10

u/TheGhoulKhz Oct 03 '22

if the MENA server really goes afloat my bet is that they will merge with turkey

1

u/EquisteLOL Oct 03 '22

Ping is also fine for euw, every single player worth their salt plays there anyway. Turkish server is mainly for the nonbilingual playerbase.

2

u/Gazskull Oct 02 '22

I mean, Turkey is a small region and got their fair share of players imported into major regions, performing like this is always going to be harder

26

u/saruthesage Ssumdaddy simpDoinb's douyu girlfiend Oct 02 '22

YOU PRO???

28

u/Bluelantern1 Oct 02 '22

Finally a win for ISG, it would be so hard of LATAM ended 0-5. I'm curious how are are IW treated in Turkey, because the hate for ISG is really hard in LATAM

17

u/lmpoppy Oct 03 '22

just 3x it for Turkey. So far all worst perfomances of TCL in international belongs to IW. TCL never got eliminated from IWCQ- playins before at least winning 2/3 matches in the stage. IW won 2 all their international matches combined.

9

u/SpaceMarine_CR Oct 03 '22

Can confirm I hate Isurus and I miss the old Lyon gaming :'v

17

u/Lyota save the TCL, oh the mighty SUP Oct 03 '22

I lowkey knew it would end like this.

NASR was the best TCL team by far this summer, but they choked so hard against Fenerbahce who made a miracle run.

NASR finished the league with 17-1 score, lose being in last week. They hard stomped IW in two games.

Unfortunate but there is no loser brackets in tcl so... if you lose, you lose. No chance to comeback even if you finish 17-1.

50

u/zealot416 Oct 02 '22

Is it just me or did Captain Flowers blow out his voice yelling at Impact last game? u/CaptainFlowers22 are you ok?

68

u/lolKhamul April Fools Day 2018 Oct 02 '22

Well lets just say there is a reason these teams were 0-4. Entertaining to watch but quality wise pretty rough.

Also i kinda feel bad for IW, i fell like the TR fans are gonna be rough on them for that 0-5 showing.

14

u/KATsordogs Oct 02 '22

Yeah, our people just overreact in the worst way possible. And they won against FB in our national finals and trashtalked them so they were already out there with the pitchforks lol

it looked pretty good until he bought ga

9

u/Abd5555 can be your or your Oct 02 '22

Have you seen nilah's Q passive?

5

u/jhngnr Oct 02 '22

if it works it works. he was unkillable all fights, all he needed was a damage item (ravenous hydra sounds good to me)

13

u/BlakenedHeart Oct 03 '22

Unkillable but not really a threat

4

u/jhngnr Oct 03 '22

yeah i think she would be a threat with a damage item instead of ga tho

5

u/Abd5555 can be your or your Oct 02 '22

It doesn't work though? If he doesn't want to die he should build full tank, or learn how to position well on the champ

Also shieldbow wouldn't reduce her survivability all that much

-1

u/jhngnr Oct 03 '22

all shieldbow offers is some extra shield compared to eclipse, he would die in the first 5 seconds of the fights without dd with how the early game went with farfetch and ferret's ints. also nilah is not a champ that is able to position

-3

u/ilanf2 [Ratatosk] (LAN) Oct 02 '22

One that allowed her to survive with 1 health multiple figths.

16

u/Abd5555 can be your or your Oct 02 '22

And to deal 0 damage making her lose a bunch of health she shouldn't have

6

but he's dealing no damage and ignores the crit/AS scalings on his champion...

6

u/Abd5555 can be your or your Oct 02 '22

That's what I'm saying imagine this build on yas or yone 💀

4

u/Ambushes Oct 02 '22

that's cool and all, but she did 0 damage. There are yuumi combos that are equally hard to kill because they aren't melee (like Ezreal) but can still safely output damage.

5

u/SniperWillow Oct 03 '22

and dealt no dmg so kda merchant I guess ?

4

u/LethalMetal 2 SUP flairs, 0 fucks given Oct 03 '22

Very cool trivia: Did you know that since TCL was (loosely) formed in 2013 TR had never been eliminated in IWCQ etc. without getting at least 2 wins, until IW changed that in 2021?

Did you know that TR had never been eliminated from said tournaments without getting one win, until today?

Did you know that all three worst ever performances of TR were carried out by Wildcats?

Did you know that Wildcats won TCL exactly three times, and those three times were among the last 4 TCL splits?

What an absolute shame of an organization. Roughly zero changes to anything and expecting results. Yet people still support it, and defend this shit like they're paid to do so.

But it's fine, this was merely Turkey's 5th seed (G2, 100, EG, MAD, trashIW).

4

u/Lyota save the TCL, oh the mighty SUP Oct 03 '22

F*cking unfair man. NASR was far better than IW and they deserved a second chace at least.

3

u/LethalMetal 2 SUP flairs, 0 fucks given Oct 03 '22

Fenerbahçe had to win a tiebreak to make it to playoffs as the 6th team. Then they beat the 3rd and 1st place teams. They lost to the 2nd place team that is IW in game 5. Nobody deserved to be in this worlds more than the "BAO and 4 inters" team that is Fener.

i think dark passage would give us best results tbh honest

3

u/McintyresRightLeg Oct 03 '22

Wildcats are straight up pathetic. I would have preferred them to be at an international event when they still had Kaori and Pbd. This teams lacks no creativity and have the most boring gameplay possible.

1

u/Support_eu Oct 02 '22

People criticizing nillah’s build when in reality viktor failed positioning on some fights and completely awful gameplay from gnar. Bad rage control on first herald, and in next team fights also

2

u/KATsordogs Oct 03 '22

Serin caught in the last fight but i’m not sure where he could have gone to not get caught tbh. For some reason they decided to not search for Rell and he got flanked by Rell and tping Aatrox while his team was trying to engage 1 screen away from him. Gnar and Maokai noticed it but it was already a bit late.

1

u/BlakenedHeart Oct 02 '22

Nylah went for the tank Nylah build, but the issue is... she does low dmg without crit

-28

-13

u/NvmSharkZ Tanks are much harder to execute in teamfights than Oct 02 '22

I can see how this means a lot for regional pride for the people from TR and LLA
